Immaterial

I mmaterial is a performance that speculates about a possible architectonical structure for the internet, wondering what shape it has and how does it behave. Recurring to the bodies of performers inside a giant lycra sock and a sound landscape, the performance, tranfigures the atmosphere where it takes place to a hybrid type of space where there’re no walls, no definitions, a non-concrete construction where “every non-citizen of this non-space can stretch beyond the boundary of it all.”. This is a Transdisciplinary piece where dance, poetry, sound design, and software get together to imagine a space that leaves and breaths without it, wondering it’s repercussions on the user’s identity.

Installation

Variable Dimensions

This installation uses Instagram to explore the relationship between digital, online, and physical waste and consequently our relationship with memories. Focusing on Instagram as “infinite” constantly growing storage, we created a connection between the photos that are being uploaded into the cloud and a printer that is destined to materialize them. Linking Instagram’s and Google cloud print, each photograph published with the hashtag #selfie is printed and goes down to the floor, creating a visible representation of the number of pictures that humanity produces every second.

Infinite Scroll

Digital marketing strategies, such as the infine scrool, are bending the flow of our social fabric. The way we interact physically and emotionally with each other has been reconfiguring by a silent addiction to a screen. There’s a emerging social structure that does not anchor on a moral or ethic but on a news feed. I n this video there’s and effort to identify the layers of control over our digital identities. In which ways this control, or lack of it, defines who we are as individuals and as collective. Speculating over an emerging society that constantly ignores the red flags on the screens, we create scenarios to understand the consequences of our actions towards the network.
